RenewableUK has completed a restructure of its policy and external affairs team with the addition of three new members of staff.
The new head of policy is Barnaby Wharton, formerly the CBI’s senior policy adviser on energy and climate change. Barnaby spent five years at the CBI, covering a wide range of business issues, focusing for the last three years on energy and climate change. He produced CBI’s recent report “Stepping up to the Challenge” on maximising the UK’s economic opportunities as we work towards our carbon reduction goals.
Marina Valls has joined RenewableUK in the newly created role of Economist. Previously she worked for a gas storage operator as a market and policy analyst.
A new policy manager, Rebecca Williams, will take up her post in June, sitting alongside the two existing policy managers. She will join RenewableUK from WWF, where she currently manages the NGO’s work on the power sector, covering policy from the UK, EU and internationally.
Commenting on the appointments RenewableUK’s Executive Director, Emma Pinchbeck said: “I’m delighted to reinforce our excellent RenewableUK policy team with talented individuals from varied backgrounds. The team are hitting the ground running and are looking forward to working with industry and officials alike to support our growing UK renewables sector as it delivers cheap, clean electricity and drives investment in communities right across the country”.
